Job Description

Role overview

The Head of Education is responsible to lead the delivery of Edinvest’s Education model. In addition, the role will take Operational responsibility for certain schools during this phase of Edinvest’s growth. If you seek to make a difference to education in South Africa and enjoy working in a dynamic team this is the place to be.

Key Result Areas

Responsible to deliver a high quality, blended learning and entrepreneurial Education Model for Edinvest.
Responsible to assist schools translate the Education Model into effective curriculum delivery.
Oversight over school’s delivery of the CAPS /other curriculums to ensure quality education is provided to learners.
Responsible for Edinvest policies as they pertain to education matters.
Create learning networks and represent Edinvest therein so that Edinvest is connected to education best practice.
Responsible to ensure teacher training and development occurs.
Analyse and guide annual independent education assessments, and ensure remedial action taken if required.
Responsible for the education aspects of any due diligence undertaken when Edinvest considers acquiring/developing a school.
Operations head for certain schools during this phase of Edinvest’s growth, working closely with the COO. This includes:

* Management oversight of the Executive Head of the Schools.
* Approval of all key staff appointments and deal with HR matters.
* Oversight over and guidance to the Schools regarding performance within budget.
* Oversight over and guidance to the Schools re curriculum delivery to ensure quality education results.

Coordinate with the COO and the Head of New Schools to ensure alignment of operational systems and practices.
Coordinate with the FD to ensure budget alignment and performance.
Writing quarterly, six monthly and annual reports as required.
Operate as part of the Executive Management Team.
Provides report-backs and performance feedback.
Report to the MD.
Qualification & Experience
Requirements:

Skills, Qualifications and Experience required

Education-related undergraduate degree.

Post-graduate qualification.

15+ years’ experience in the Education sector, including at a senior management level within the independent school sector.

Competencies

Technical knowledge and skills regarding education best practice.

Ability to lead and make decisions regarding education.

Management skills.

Implementation skills.

Entrepreneurial approach.

Strong work ethic with ability to take own initiative.

Passion/Commitment.
